Supporting children and young people means protecting our future. To create “a society where all young people acquire a social sense of belonging, being able to “work” and “continue working”, we will channel your donations into a “Youth Employment Support Package”, which will be utilized to enable young people in financial difficulties to benefit from our support programs, such as Job Training, without financial strains. Furthermore, we plan to launch a new program to support young people without a job or school after graduating from high school; using the donations from last year’s marathon participants.

Organization Profile
“more trees” is a forest conservation group founded in 2007 under the concept of growing “more trees” with musician Ryuichi Sakamoto serving as representative.
Our goal involves restoring multi-faceted functions of forests, including their water-retention abilities and biodiversity.
Currently, we are working on forest rehabilitation projects in 11 domestic locations (forest thinning) and one overseas location (tree planting in the Philippines).
Uses of donations
Your donations will be used for a tree-planting and forest rehabilitation project (covering about 180 ha) in the Province of Quirino in the Philippines, where forest devastation has been so serious that forests covered only 26% of the national land in 2010, dramatically less than the figure of 70% in the early 1900s. By pursuing agroforestry (which means planting and also nurturing fruit trees in the plantation), employing local farmers and earning cash income from the sale of harvested fruit, the project not only helps rehabilitate the forest, but also mitigate poverty and create employment.

Uses of donations
Your donations will be used to raise and plant 500,000 seedlings to restore about 100 hectares of maritime forest in the city of Natori, Miyagi Prefecture, boosting the livelihood of or giving work to more than 11,000 affected farmers through these efforts, alongside a forest nurturing campaign which will continue to 2033.

In today’s world, 748 million people lack access to safe water and 2.5 billion people lack access to an appropriate toilet. Every day, diarrhea caused by the lack of safe water and toilet facilities kills about 1400 children.
WaterAid aims to transform the lives of these people, working to introduce facilities for accessing safe water and sanitation, as well as establishing mechanisms to maintain and manage these facilities.
Uses of donations
In an Ethiopian village, until a water supply facility was completed, local women drew water from a small pond with leeches accessible only via a steep uphill path. In a Madagascan village, girls had to drop out of school because they had to go and draw water every day. Many people worldwide live under such circumstances.
Your donations will be used carefully to deliver safe water and toilets to people in the 26 countries where WaterAid operates.
